Custom Paper Stickers

Custom paper stickers are printed adhesive stickers with a paper face material. They can be used for packaging decoration, envelope seals, stationery and indoor promotional projects. The paper surface, adhesive, cutting format and finish should be selected for the actual application.

Asia Supply Source helps brands, retailers and distributors source custom paper stickers from China, coordinating artwork requirements, material selection, samples, packaging and production follow-up. This page focuses on paper selection; product labels covers packaging-label applications, while sticker sheets covers multi-design layouts.

Paper materials and finishes

Start with the appearance and use you need rather than choosing paper by its name alone. White paper, kraft paper and different surface finishes can give the same artwork a different result. Confirm the actual paper grade and finishing combination in the quotation and sample.

  • Matte white paper: discuss the desired non-gloss appearance, print detail and handling conditions.
  • Glossy paper: compare the printed result and surface reflection under the intended lighting. Confirm whether the gloss comes from the paper surface or an additional finish.
  • Kraft paper: review the effect of the brown background on artwork and color contrast before approving the design.
  • Writing or stamping: identify the pen, ink or stamp you intend to use. Check marking and drying on the finished surface rather than assuming every paper sticker is writable.

A paper face material does not establish water resistance, removability or suitability for direct food contact. Coatings, lamination, adhesive and the intended use need separate confirmation.

Formats and artwork

Paper describes the face material; die-cut, kiss-cut, sheet and roll describe cutting or delivery choices. A single project may combine these. Choose the format around how the stickers will be packed, distributed and applied.

  • Die-cut stickers for individually finished shapes; confirm the finished outline and backing size.
  • Kiss-cut stickers when stickers are supplied within a larger backing area.
  • Sticker sheets for several illustrations or repeated designs on one sheet.
  • Roll labels when roll supply suits the application; confirm core, roll size, orientation and equipment requirements.

Provide vector artwork where available, or a suitable high-resolution file. Keep the printed design, cut line and any required safe area identifiable. The production department should confirm the working dieline and artwork requirements before proof approval.

A decorative packaging seal should not be described as tamper-evident without a separately specified and verified construction. For wet, oily or demanding handling conditions, compare the proposed paper option with vinyl stickers before choosing.

What to check in a sample

An artwork proof checks text, placement, color references and cut outlines. A physical sample checks the paper, finish, peeling and adhesion. Use the actual box, envelope, notebook or other intended surface, including any coating.

  • Review printed fine lines, small text and the contrast against the selected paper.
  • Check whether each sticker separates from its liner without the paper tearing or the cut being incomplete.
  • Apply the sample at the intended location, including any fold or curved area.
  • Agree the handling, exposure and removal conditions that matter for the project; record observations against those conditions.
  • Inspect the agreed unit, sheet or roll count and the packaging that protects the printed surfaces.

Keep the approved artwork version and physical sample reference together. Our custom product sampling guide explains how to record an approval before bulk production.

Paper sticker RFQ checklist

  • Intended use, application surface and relevant handling or exposure conditions.
  • Paper preference, surface finish and any writing or stamping requirement.
  • Finished sticker dimensions, outline and backing or sheet dimensions where applicable.
  • Artwork files, number of designs and quantities per design.
  • Required format: individual pieces, sheets or rolls, with the relevant layout or roll details.
  • Packaging units: stickers per sheet, sheets per pack, or labels per roll, plus retail or bulk packing.
  • Delivery destination, required arrival date and any labeling or documentation requirements.

For a sheet project, state both the number of sheets and the number of stickers on each sheet. For an assortment, identify whether quantities mean individual stickers, complete sets or retail packs. Use our custom product RFQ checklist to organize the brief.

Frequently asked questions

Are paper stickers the same as product labels?

Paper is a material category; a product label is an application. A product label can use paper or another specified face material. Choose the material and adhesive around the packaging and expected handling.

Can paper stickers be waterproof?

Do not assume so from the paper name or a glossy appearance. State the expected moisture exposure and ask for a suitable material-and-finish proposal, then evaluate the complete sample. A film-based alternative may be more appropriate for some uses.

Can I write on the stickers?

Writing performance depends on the finished surface and the tool or ink used. Include those details in the brief and test a sample with the actual pen or stamp.

Can several designs share one sheet?

A multi-design layout can be discussed. Supply the dimensions and quantity of each design, the finished sheet size and any required grouping so the layout can be reviewed.

What quantity and preparation time should I plan for?

Minimum quantities, sample costs and preparation times depend on paper, dimensions, designs, format and packing. Share the quantity split and required arrival date so availability and scheduling can be confirmed for the project.
